Klondike Derby 2016

The Ini-To Lodge of the Order of the Arrow is excited to sponsor the 29th annual Klondike Derby during the 100th Anniversary of the Order of the Arrow

New for 2016 --  While registering for general registration, please be sure to register for Saturday lunch, you can choose from 1 hamburger or 2 hot dogs. All meals come with a bag of chips and a can of soda. We will give you tickets for each meal in your Saturday morning packet during flags

Call Out for the Order of the Arrow and Brotherhood ceremonies will be held at this event.

Activity Stations will be used demonstrate Scout skills and provide some friendly competition - all designed to show and teach outdoor skills.

In the morning, each Patrol will drag a sled they have built to various "stations", as they follow the “Delaware Trail” simulating the struggles of survival of the Delaware Indians. All the winter gear they need for the events (no tents, please) must be carried on the sled. Patrols without a sled may complete in everything except the sled race without penalty… they just have to tote their gear in backpacks. Some troops have extra sleds, so don’t be afraid to borrow one.

Be sure to download the 2016 Leader’s Guide to get all the details on events, new and old.   The Leader's Guide includes the registration page.

 2016 Leader's Guide Sled Plans

WHO: All Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews from the Flint River Council are invited. Webelos are invited also, but should be attending as a den and camping with a troop.

For Webelos to go camping with Boy Scouts, they must have a minimum of 2 adult leaders from the Webelos den (not every parent, but they can’t be left solely with the troop’s leadership).  The current outdoor policies prohibit Webelos from participating in any of the Klondike events.

WHAT: The annual Klondike Campout. Winter camping at its best. Fun events. Show off Scout winter skills.   Be sure to bring a sled [See Plans] for every patrol or Venture Crew.  A few extra sleds will be available the day of the race to borrow.

WHERE: The Gerald I Lawhorn Scout Base Flint River Adventure Area - Wilderness Area, located on the Flint River.

REGISTER:  Mail the registration form in the Leader's Guide to the Flint River Council office in Griffin, or use the Doubleknot Online Registration available at the Flint River Council website.
